What Are We Called Out Of?

What are we called out of?

1 Peter 2:9 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; NKJV

People are in darkness because of their evil (sinful) actions, and when one practices these deeds does not want to be obedient to God and show their hate for Him (John 3:19).

John 3:19-21 And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. 21 But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God." NKJV

Acts 26:18 to open their eyes, in order to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in Me.' NKJV

Romans 1:21 because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. NKJV

2 Corinthians 6:14 Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? NKJV

Ephesians 5:8-12 For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light 9 (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth), 10 finding out what is acceptable to the Lord. 11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them. NKJV

Colossians 1:13 He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, NKJV

1 Thessalonians 4:7 For God did not call us to uncleanness, but in holiness. NKJV

1 Peter 1:15 but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, NKJV

Matthew 9:13 But go and learn what this means: 'I desire mercy and not sacrifice.' For I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance." NKJV

Some of those who are in darkness are those who are self-seeking, who do not stand in the truth of God, and are obedient to unrighteous and walking according to their own lusts (John 8:44-45; Romans 2:8; 2 Peter 3:3). These are people who choose not to know or understand the will of the Lord, they do not desire the knowledge of God’s ways, and thus walk-in darkness (Job 21:14; Psalm 82:5). Isaiah 59:2 plainly states that a person’s own personal sins separate themselves from God and He hides His face from the sinner. When God hides Himself from the sinner, the offender of God’s statutes is then in darkness and has no fellowship with His glorious light, because He is light (1 John 1:5-7).
