How Does One Sin?

Sin is a violation of the spiritual laws of God (Romans 7:11, 13; 1 John 3:4). Temptation in itself is not sin. If it were then Jesus would have been a sinner when He was tempted by Satan, yet He was without sin (Mark 1:13; Hebrews 4:15; 1 Peter 2:22; 1 John 3:5). A person does not become a sinner until they drawn away by their own desires (lusts) and enticed. Then when that desired is conceived, it gives birth to sin (James 1:14-15). For all have sinned (Romans 3:23; 1 John 1:8, 10).

The Word, the gospel of Christ, is what everyone is appointed to obey, sadly, when one stumbles they are deemed to be disobedient (1 Peter 2:8). Just as Jesus used the word of God (the law of God) to put Satan in his place, we must do the same (Matthew 4:4, 6-7, 10).
